Both cats and dogs are required to be licensed. Licenses are due for renewal by January 31st each year.

The City of Edgemont has the following pet laws:

Cemetery Information
Plots in the Edgemont Cemetery may be purchased at City Hall.
City Library
Please “check out” what our library has to offer. They are open from 9:00 to 5:00 Monday through Friday.
Garbage Services
- Garbage must be in garbage bags, then placed in provided receptacles.
- Extra receptacles may be rented
- Household trash only.
- Garbage needs to be out by 7 a.m. and placed in the alley if possible. If the alley is not available; place on the front curb of street.
Garbage Pickup Schedule
The new garbage pickup schedule will be:
Monday – West of 6th Ave.
Thursday – East of 6th Ave. and Cottonwood.
Landfill Information
Custer-Fall River Landfill is located south of town. A permit is required to dump at the landfill. Permits are good from Jan 1 – Dec 31 and must be renewed annually. The landfill is open for dumping from 7:30 to 3:00 Monday – Friday. For current material fees and other information contact Barker Concrete & Construction, Inc: 605.662.7760
Yard Waste Information
The City of Edgemont has a rubble-site for yard waste. Dumping at the rubble-site is free for residents. Yard waste must be bagged or in clearly marked receptacles. Tree limbs must be no longer than 36" and bundled with biodegradable material. Crew will pick up last Thursday of the month. Rubble-site is open on Thursdays from 1pm to 2pm.
Snow Removal
By ordinance property owners must have sidewalks adjoining their property cleared of snow within 12 hours of snow fall.
Water Restrictions
Water restrictions are in effect from June 1 through September 30 annually.
Allowed watering hours are:
6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and from
6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Properties with even addresses, water on even days .
Properties with odd addresses, water on odd days.
No watering on the 31 of the month.
Hand watering is allowed. Those properties with automatic sprinkler systems may water during the hours of 12:00 a.m. to 4:00 a.m.
Yard Maintenance
It is the responsibility of property owners to keep their yards and boulevards mowed and free of garbage. Trees are to be trimmed as to not interfere with sidewalk or road traffic.
